In science, we made planes. Even though they don't look like planes. They don't have wings, just a propeller. The planes zoom across a large section of fishing line. But, before I get into that, please take notice of the picture on the right. In the center of the Photo, I am winding the propeller of the plane with my partner, Hanna. In the bottom right corner, Nick is also winding his plane.
Well, enough mocking a tour guide. Here's how we built our plane: First, we took two Popsicle sticks, sanded them to the correct shape, making sure they were EXACTLY the same.
Next, we cut a large straw in half, punching out one end of both halves. we then slid a smaller straw through the punched holes. After that, we pinned the dangling straw ends between the Popsicle sticks and stapled them together. We then attached the propeller on the front, then a hook on the back. For the last step in constructing the plane, we put a rubber band on the hook of the propeller and on the back hook of the plane.
We (me and Jared) made our terrariums by taking a container, poured in about 1,000 mL of soil, then planted 8 seeds (2 corn, 1 clover, 2 barley,1 radish and 2 pea). We watered the seeds, then covered the terrarium with plastic wrap to keep it wet (water cycle). Later on, we put Darkling Beetles and their food in. One of our beetles died quickly and the other three survived for a long time.
