CHARITIES AND FOOD PANTRIES ARE IMPORTANT!

Dear Families of Walled Lake/Wixom,

A couple of weeks ago W.L.E. 5th grade went to a very important place. We went to the Hospitality House Food Pantry. They need food to give to people. Why? Some people cannot afford food. They need food. Charities need money. We have it. Why wouldn’t we donate?
Well, we should. Many people cannot afford food for their family. So, the W.L.E. 5th grade went to the Hospitality House and donated ½ a ton of food. I bet the community could donate 10 tons of food per month! So the donations do not expire, please bring non-perishable food item (Canned goods, cereal, peanut butter, etc.).
After you donate, the food usually gets sorted. Employees spend long hours sorting food. You can help by volunteering your time to a Food Pantry. They could use your help. If the food does not get sorted, it will get confusing and no one can find what they are looking for, and donations would be a waste of time.
This year, (January – September) the Hospitality House Food Pantry served over 10,000 people! Next year could be way harder. Many people have lost their job. If Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler go out of business, it will be a disaster. So many people will lose their jobs, and we need to supply food when others cannot afford it.
Without your help the community would be a disaster. We do not want that to happen. By donating important things, you can prevent the worst from happening. This could happen to you. If it did, you would hope people would donate for you. That is what a lot of people hope for every day. So, make their wishes come true. What are you waiting for?

Sincerely,

Kyle C.
